English 1 students have finished up 20 rough drafts for their Writing Project. They will be editing, revising, and printing their finalized copies. Then, they will be combining their writing in a unique way to represent themselves. Students used a variety techniques and styles to showcase their writing abilities.

4th grade had the opportunity to listen to Bob Ward from the U of I extension office today, and he spoke to us about the importance of Earth Day and creating a sustainable environment and way of living. He had the students make a circle of life bracelet to represent how all of Earth’s systems are interconnected and dependent on one another.

We will host our 2024-25 School Planning Night on Monday in the Cafeteria at 6:00 pm. 6:00-7:00 will be for incoming Freshmen and 7:00-8:00 will be for students who will be Juniors or Seniors next year that are interested in Dual Credit.

K-Kids painted and added kindness rocks to our rock garden. The students created these rocks knowing that one message at the right moment can change someone's day!

Mrs. Vincent’s second graders joined a high school art class and learned to decorate cookies from Mrs. Kegebein. The 2nd grade class has been reading, researching, and writing about dinosaurs. The students learned how to put a border on a cookie, flood the cookie with frosting, and decorate it with details.

The 8th grade Civics classes just spent 12 weeks covering the Constitution and US Citizenship. Every student passed their 100 question test on the 1st attempt! The students celebrated with a movie. Great job 8th graders!

On April 15th, WES had the Quad Cities Canine Assistance Network (QCCAN) bring in three special furry friends! To help celebrate the ending of IAR testing, therapy dogs were located in the carpet gym. The children loved to see the dogs and were able to ask questions about each dog and what it takes to have a therapy dog trained.

On Friday, 7th grade students in world geography completed an Africa Escape Room. Students worked in pairs to complete a secret mission to decode interesting facts about Africa. Pictures are of the winners of each class. They received Gatorade and chips as their prizes.
