This week, Wethersfield Elementary School is celebrating Read Across America with fun and engaging activities to promote the joy of reading! To kick off the festivities, Principal Dennison dressed as The Cat in the Hat, while Mrs. Underwood and Mrs. DeKezel brought the excitement as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Meanwhile, students were able to dress up as twins (match a friend or group) today. At WES, we recognize that literacy is the foundation of learning, opening doors to imagination, knowledge, and future success. We are excited to share the magic of reading with our students throughout the week!

The Introduction to Physical Science class welcomed special guests on Monday: Katie Rushing-Anderson, a professor from Black Hawk College, and Will Rumbold, a Black Hawk student and former Wethersfield student. Together, they guided the class through a hands-on activity in which students constructed trebuchets (catapults). This engaging project allowed students to apply their learning by observing the conversion of potential gravitational energy into kinetic energy through the use of a simple machine—the lever.
