In Mrs. DeValkenaere's 5th grade social studies class, students are working collaboratively as they learned about the Dust Bowl. Students read a passage and had to answer questions about the severe dust storms during the drought of the 1930's. To prove their answers, they had to highlight evidence in the text. Thank you Mrs. Newman for capturing our students hard at work!

Mrs. Bryan’s 5th grade students met with their 1st grade buddies in Mrs. Hand’s class on Friday. They enjoyed getting to know each other while working on a scavenger hunt.

Congratulations to Breon Taylor and Haydn Stroud on winning this week's $5 Outstanding Goose Award!

There have been some AMAZING things happening in the junior/senior high school... from building thinking classrooms in pre-calculus, to analyzing pond water & identifying organisms using a field guide in 7th grade science, to thinking out loud in a Socratic Seminar to have a deeper understanding of a text in 7th grade ELA, to conducting a chemistry lab on the Mole Concept, and to creating Picasso self-portraits and poems along with collages in the junior high literature and fine arts class. It is so awesome seeing students actively engaged in their learning!

Mrs. Gomez's Kindergarten class earned 10 stickers for displaying above and beyond behavior as a class, and as a reward, students got to bring their "stuffys" from home for the day!

Attention Seniors/Senior Parents:
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is revamping their entire application. This has pushed the application's opening Day from October to some time in December. They will be making the Application shorter and will be pulling more information from your taxes electronically. If you would like to get a head start on this, you can create your FSA ID. (Both parents and students will need an FSA ID). I will be keeping you posted as information comes. Please contact me (Mrs. Seiden) if you have any questions.
