Students in Mrs. Gripp's third grade class completed Pourquoi Stories. Pourquoi stories are why stories. For example, they read a made-up story about why poison dart frogs are colorful. Students then created their own why stories. These are stories that the reading curriculum uses to get students used to the writing process of establishing a situation and introducing characters at the beginning of a story, describing a problem and explaining how the character responds to the problem in the middle of the story, and finally, providing a solution to the problem and the point of the story at the end. The students enjoyed presenting their original stories!

Yesterday afternoon, students in the second grade presented Christmas Around the World to their peers, parents, grandparents and teachers. Students independently researched a country of their heritage to make this activity more meaningful. Students were then grouped together based on their heritage to compare their research and to decide what to put on their display boards. Finally, students presented what they learned about their country's Christmas traditions, as well as bringing in food that originated in their country. It was a wonderful event, and the students did a fantastic job!
After the Polar Express movie event, K-1 teachers created a variety of stations for their students to rotate through. Junior High Student Council members joined the activities to lend a helping hand!
