Game 2 of the Wally Keller on Tuesday saw Elmwood defeat Stark County on a last second layup 40-39. Your Flying Geese were victorious in the final game 73-31 over Putnam County. All teams have a record of 1-1 heading into third night action which starts at 2:00 Wednesday

In the first contest of the second night of the Wally Keller hosted by Wethersfield HS the Annawan Braves take down the Storm of Bureau Valley 51-49.

The Kewanee VFW 8078 just announced the winners of the 2023-24 Patriot’s Pen Youth Scholarship Competition. Wethersfield Junior High students took first through third place! First place went to 7th grader Kayleigh Hampton. She was awarded $75 and a certificate. Kayleigh’s essay advances to the VFW District 8 competition. Placing 2nd was WJH 7th grader Caleb Neuleib with a $50 prize, and Kyra Galbraith earned third place and $25. The students submitted 300-400 word essays answering, “How are you inspired by America?”. Students in Mrs. Lay's Media class worked on some Thanksgiving projects last week. They created videos using Powerpoint and Pop Art. Check out these festive pieces of artwork!


Students in Mrs. Lay's Modern Living class planned and prepared a Thanksgiving meal comparing traditional cooking methods with the use of modern cooking options. They used an air fryer, indoor grill, microwave, waffle maker, and slow cookers. They definitely realized the time-saving advantages of the equipment.


In preparation for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, first graders in Mrs. Martinez's first grade classroom created their own balloons for their own little parade in the hallways of Wethersfield. They made a design and then created their very own Balloons Over Broadway.


The final game of the night was between Bureau Valley and Wethersfield. Bureau Valley won 53-38.


The second match-up of the night was between Elmwood and Putnam County. Putnam County won 58-35.


The Geese and Titan online store is open for two more days. Items will be done in time for Christmas!

The Wally Keller Basketball Tournament kicked off tonight at 5pm. The first game was between Annawan and Stark County. Stark County won 50-38.


In Ms. Gault's Chemistry class, students conducted a flame test. Did you know that different metallic salts and metal ions release different colors as they are heated and release energy?


It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without a little football! Students in Mrs. Woller's second grade classroom listened to the story Turkey Bowl. In this story, Ethan always watched his relatives play in the annual Turkey Bowl. It's finally his time to shine, but plans changed when an unexpected snowstorm hit the night before Thanksgiving. In class, they discussed words to describe the characters' emotions and wrote about how Ethan's feelings change throughout the story. Check out these awesome football players!

Alexis Sauer and Brooke Shores both made queen size bed frames in Mr. Trill's class. Alexis used oak with a walnut stain and Brooke used oak with an ebony stain. Both students did terrific and have made something to be very proud of. Great job girls!



Eighth graders in Mr. Alepra's Digital Literacy class got to work with drones this week. Students controlled the drones with hand gestures.


What are you thankful for this year? Students in Mrs.Gripp's third grade class created a keepsake book of personal gratitude. Students wrote an acrostic poem about things that they are thankful for.
